For more information click here Lineville UPDATES from LV Administration September 11, 2020 SCHOOL SUPPLY LIST 2020-21 SCHEDULES IN POWERSCHOOL
Student schedules listed in PowerSchool are not accurate. In order to preserve cohorts in our Plan B, we needed to create an entirely new schedule for each classroom. However, we needed to keep our Plan A schedule active in PowerSchool so we are ready should conditions allow us to return to fully in-person learning. Please refer to the schedule your child was given or contact your child’s homeroom teacher if you need a copy of your student’s daily schedule. RELATED ARTS To accommodate 6th Grade cohorts, all World Language classes are now “Explore World Language” and will include exposure to all three languages (Spanish, French and German). Individual languages listed in PowerSchool are not accurate. Design Adventure and Coding are now the same class, called “Technology”. Art is either 5th grade Art or 6th Grade Art, there is no “Art-tastic" or "Art-mazing”. FROM SCHOOL NUTRITION DEPARTMENT

Pull tabs are collected in the front office for the Ronald McDonald House in Milwaukee. Lineville no longer saves milk caps or Campbell soup labels but we do send them on to an elementary school in the district if we get some. BROWN COUNTY LIBRARY reminds parents/guardians to make alternative plans for any students who might usually go to a BCL location – including the Weyers-Hilliard Branch Library in Howard – after school to hang out or wait to be picked up. Due to COVID-19, Brown County Library buildings are open for “in and out” browsing and checkout, but unfortunately, not for other purposes such as sitting, waiting, studying, meeting or socializing. Library open hours have been reduced, with limits on the number of people inside at one time. Library computers and printers are available by reservation only (with library card or free guest pass). Library staff are eager to help parents and students apply for library cards, place holds and get library books and items ready for quick pickup. Contactless pickup can be arranged for those who prefer not to enter buildings. Call your branch library or the Central Library Youth Services Department at 920-448-5846 with questions or requests. Check for up-to-date information on library services related to COVID at www.browncountylibrary.org
FROM THE SCHOOL BOARD
September 2020 Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting This year the Howard-Suamico Board of Education will hold its public Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting on September 28, 6:00 p.m. in the District Office Community Training Center, 2706 Lineville Road, Suamico. In addition, the Superintendent will present a State of the District address. We have been asked on occasion about the purpose of these meetings which are also referred to as Meetings of the Electors. State Law requires school districts across Wisconsin to hold a Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting each year. There are legal requirements surrounding these events, but school officials have long recognized this event as an opportunity for the community and the school district to connect, to communicate, and to reach greater understanding. School administrators and board members provide focus on achievements, needs and the future of the district. Community members are presented with information about the operations of the school district, are able to ask questions, and will then vote on various motions. On behalf of the Howard-Suamico School District, the Board of Education invites attendance and participation from district residents. Please consider joining us on Monday, September 28. Copies of the budget book will be available in the School District Office, 2706 Lineville Road, Green Bay, beginning September 18, 2020, and will be available at the meeting on September 28. This year, one of our big goals is to create a learning environment where every student is Safe, Respectful, Responsible, and Kind. This year we will be using LiveSchool, an app that will help us share behavior feedback with you and your child. Your child will receive positive points in LiveSchool for hard work and good behavior. We will also give feedback on teachable moments and choices your child may make that do not follow our expectations. READ MORE FROM THE ART DEPARTMENT
Hello Lineville Families! We are off to a great start this school year! The Covid pandemic has presented us with a multitude of challenges, and we have been able to work around many of those challenges! One of those would be the recommendation of not sharing things like art supplies. If your family is able to, it would be helpful if your student could have their own set of art supplies in order to limit the amount of sharing. There is a link on our e-commerce page: https://howardsuamic470.corecommerce.com/lineville-intermediate/ The cost is $11.00 for the items shown below. If you have these items leftover from a previous student, that would be just wonderful to use those instead of purchasing new. If you do not want to purchase them on e-commerce, you may purchase them at local stores. The items are: sketchbook (preferably spiral bound and 9” x 12” or smaller), oil pastels, watercolor paints (A 16 color set is a nice variety of colors, but sets with 8 colors are fine too) and colored pencils. Another challenge that Covid has presented us with is the closing of some of our suppliers of art supplies, which has greatly delayed the shipment of some art supplies that were previously ordered. Our goal is to have these items shipped by the end of October if you place your order by the end of September (the e-commerce link will be unavailable after September 30th) If your child is in fifth grade, they have art all year. If your child is in sixth grade, they have art one semester. You may want to base your purchasing decision on that. And as always, we thank you for your patience and willingness to get these supplies for your child. Mrs. Grzywa & Mrs. Oberstar ABSENCES & HEALTH ROOM

ATTN 6th Grade PARENTS: "The Student Immunization Law requires that all students through grade 12 meet a minimum number of required immunizations https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/publications/p44021.pdf. For students in 6th grade this means that they need to have the adolescent booster of tetanus and pertussis/whooping cough or "Tdap" as well as their second "varicella" or chickenpox vaccine. These requirements can be waived only for health, religious or personal conviction reasons. You may contact your child's primary care physician, or possibly the Brown County Health Department at (920) 448-6400, your local Walgreens or CVS pharmacies to see if they are able to provide the immunizations your child needs. To remain compliant with the law, please provide the month, day and year that your child received the required immunization(s) or select one of the waiver options. Please let us know if you have a scheduled appointment in the coming weeks for your student. You may provide the immunization or appointment information by calling the school office at 662-7871 and one of the school secretaries can update your child's records in our system or send updated immunization info into school with your child. INDIVIDUAL HEALTH PLANS - If your child has a medical condition that our staff should be aware of, it is important that parents contact the district nurse so that an Individual Health Plan can be created. Please contact our school nurse, Ann Spaeth at 920-662-7245 or [email protected]. PUBLIC HEALTH authorities recommend that teenagers and college-bound students be immunized against a potentially fatal bacterial infection called meningococcal disease, a type of meningitis. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other leading medical organizations recommends that all 11-12 years olds should be vaccinated with meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4). A booster shot is recommended for teens at age 16 to continue providing protection when their risk for meningococcal disease is highest. Teens who received MCV4 for the first time at age 13 through 15 years will need a one-time booster dose at 16 through18 years of age. If a teenager missed getting the vaccine altogether, they should ask the doctor about getting it now, especially if they are about to move into a college dorm or military barracks. To learn more about meningococcal disease, vaccine information, and public health resources visit www.cdc.gov/meningitis/index.htm. |
